Collection 1: EDUCATIONAL AREAS - STRUCTURES - EXPERIENCES
In the first collection, we have put together some exciting topics for you. We are opening up the field of extracurricular political youth and adult education by first looking at three large and fundamentally different areas of activity: Accordingly, it is first about political education in the context of adult education, youth education and finally early education. These areas of education should not be confused with target groups, but rather represent the basic structures of a field of education that can be broken down into much more differentiated areas. What is interesting in this context is not only the question of how the educational sector or educational structures have developed, but also what experiences can be gained there and what can be learned (also in retrospect) from their development.
STEP 1 ADULT EDUCATION
------------------------------------------------------
We start with adult education - because it often takes a back seat in education and training contexts. With Klaus-Peter Hufer, we have gained a proven expert for a fundamental introduction to the field of education. Anja Besand will then address the question of what can actually be learned from the history of the education sector for today.

STEP 2: YOUTH EDUCATION
--------------------------------------------
In the second step, we turn our attention to the area of (extracurricular) political youth education. In addition to a general introduction, we will address the question of how the relationship between youth and politics can be defined more precisely.

STEP 3: EARLY EDUCATION
-------------------------------------------
The third step is dedicated to early education, as this area is also often neglected. Here, we first explore the context from a practical perspective and take a look at political education in daycare centers. We will then look at the question of when and for what reasons civic education should begin.

STEP 4: SCHOOL & VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
_________________________________________________________
Even though the John Dewey Evening School focuses on extracurricular political youth and adult education, we do not want to forego brief introductions to school and vocational political education at this point. This is because a whole range of stakeholders in the extracurricular education landscape cooperate with these institutions. We therefore consider it important that the basic structures and inherent logic of civic education are also made transparent in these institutions and can therefore be taken into account.
