The seminar is designed using a variety of training methods. It is interactive and includes short trainer presentations, discussions and partner work as well as practical exercises and activities to increase awareness of intercultural differences. Experiences gained by participants in international work are shared. The main focus is on example situations from work with other cultures that have occurred or could occur in the participants' daily work. Case studies of current or future work in international teams are selected according to the needs of the group. Learning objectives include:
- How do my own values and viewpoints influence the way I work?
- How are they perceived by my contacts in other countries?
- How does their culture influence the way they work and interact with me?
- What do we take for granted that confuses, irritates or upsets others?
- How could I communicate more effectively with our target groups from other cultures?
- Which strategies minimize confrontation and which maximize success?
- What will I change about the way I currently perform my international work tasks?
