A look at the criteria we use, when allocating equal opportunity funds, might also be useful. The Equal Opportunity Officers of the faculties and the School of Science can help you with questions. |
2. | Fill in the application form in its current version electronically and read the privacy policy. For bigger activities an additional letter with a more detailed breakdown of the costs can be usefull. Then send all documents via email to the Equal Opportunity Officer of your faculty. |

Outcome of the latest allocation round
On February 29, 2024, the Equal Opportunity Officers of the five faculties and the School of Science deliberated on a total of 14 applications and a total funding amount of 17,965 EUR was approved. As always, it was thoroughly checked that the planned measures complied with our guidelines for the allocation of funds.
Six applications were received from the Faculty of Biology, three for assistance with travel costs, one for networking events for queer members of the School of Science, one for acquiring material for more inclusive teaching and and one for a WHK. For four of the applications a grant of 4,900 EUR in total from gender equality funds was approved. One application was denied due to an insufficient equal opportunity aspect and one was refered to a dofferent funding possibility.
This time, there were no applications from the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry.
One application for partial funding of the Maths and Computer Science Camp was submitted from the Faculty of Mathematics. For this 5,500 EUR were granted.
Four applications were received from the Faculty of Physics, one for partial funding of the Experimentation Camp., two for networking events and and one for the assistance with trael costs. A total of 4,550 EUR was granted for both applications.
Two applications were submitted from the Faculty of Psychology, both for assistence with travel costs, one of them for participating in the femtec Career Building Programm. For both applications a total of 765 EUR was granted.
From the School of Science there was one application for an SHK to support the FUN Network iin the summer of 2024. For this application 2,250 EUR were granted.
Annual Report 2023
In 2023, a total of 35 applications for support from equality funds were submitted and a total funding amount of EUR 36,924 was approved. Below are a few key data on these 35 applications.
Analogously to 2022, the number of applications with a reference to Covid has decreased further to only 6%. The number of applications for the support of an individual person has also decreased slightly comparet to 2022, but still represents the clear majority of applications with 63%.
The funded measures can be roughly divided into the six groups "business trip", "networking event", "further training event", "SHK/WHK for research project", "scientific study" and "purchase of equipment§. Here, the business trip is the most frequently funded measure, followed at a considerable distance by networking events, further training events, and SHK/WHK funds, all of those ocurring roughly the same number o times.
If, on the other hand, we classify the measures according to which group of people they support, we see the five groups "postdocs", "doctoral students", "students", "pupils" and "several groups at once". In 2023, doctoral students were by far the most frequent applicants, followed at a disctance by applications for several groups at once and for postdocs.
Finally, we take a look at which of the 10 equality goals from the equality concept of the School of Science were mentioned particularly often in applications. The graph shows the numbers based on the applications, where some applications rather generously referenced several goals at once. The most frequently mentioned goal is by far Goal 2, the promotion of the careers of female scientists. This is followed at a considerable distance by Goal 8 (anchoring equality work in the faculties and the School of Science) and Goal 4 (promoting underrepresented student groups). In 2023 there was no application with regards to Goal 3 (support for participation in academic committees) and only one application with regards to Goal 5 (improving inclusion of people with disabilities).
