2024 Cooperation between the school contact point and Arbeiterkind: Expedition Campus - Self-confident on the way to university
The aim of Expedition Campus - Self-confident on the way to university was to enable a good start to student life, to clarify questions and to network students with each other.
The university group ArbeiterKind and the Expedition Campus team offer a wide range of services to help with orientation and arriving at university. There are also many other TU Dresden offers that support students at TU Dresden. Some of them can be found on this page.
ArbeiterKind.de: Who is that?
Unfortunately, studying is still not a matter of course for many people. Young people from families without an academic background decide against studying more often than average. There are many reasons for this. Very often there is a lack of role models, family support and usable information to successfully follow this path. The ArbeiterKind.de network has therefore set itself the task of encouraging pupils from families without university experience to study by providing inspiration, information and practical support.
The more than 6,000 volunteers are mostly students or first-generation academics themselves and report from their own experience and provide encouragement as personal role models.
There is also a university group of ArbeiterKind.de at TU Dresden.
Tips and tricks:
- The Passt?! early warning system at TU Dresden helps you to keep an overview of how your studies are going. If things are not going so well, PASST?! recommends suitable advice and support options by email. Participation in the offers is voluntary and free of charge.
- During the ESE week (first semester introduction), there are lots of helpful tips and, above all, contacts with other first-year students and old hands. The student councils provide lots of information on how to organize your studies. You should definitely not miss this week.
- The student advisory service is the point of contact for all topics (content-related or organizational) relating to the degree program. They are also happy to help with questions before you start studying.
- With "TANDEM", the German University Foundation offers a scholarship program tailored to "first-generation students". All information can be found on the TANDEM website.
