Study requirements
Prerequisite:
— a university degree in Computer Science,
— Certificate of English Language Proficiency of at least CEFR C1 (for non-native speakers only). Since the language of instruction in the master's program is English, students whose first language is not English must prove proficiency in English language. We recognize many different tests, for instance, TOEFL 108 iBT (institutional code1) or IELTS (7) or UNIcert (III) will be accepted.
— The proof of special specialist knowledge in the fields of Practical, Theoretical and Applied computer science shall be provided by an aptitude test or if necessary by an aptitude interview.

Step 1: Online application for the degree program
• Please visit the online application page once the application period has started.
• After answering the questions in the application section, you will be guided to the corresponding application portal.
• After you have entered your personal information, you need to submit your online application.
• You will then be prompted to print out your cover letter with your application number.
Step 2: Application for the Aptitude assessment or NC selection procedure
To apply for the aptitude assessment or selection process required for your degree program, you must send the following documents to the address below by the specified deadline. Please make sure that your application number, which was assigned to you when applying online, is indicated in your application documents. If you are unable to apply via the selma portal before the deadline, you don’t need to include your application number.
Required documents
a) General documents
Except for the Master's Degree in International Relations, the following general documents must be submitted by everyone:
• your online application - filled in and signed
• Copy of the higher education entrance qualification (usually Abitur certificate); if available, certificate of the higher education entrance examination (copy of the original and the translation in either German or English)
• Copy of the original and officially certified translation (German or English) of the degree certificate of the required first university degree including official transcript of records. If the first university degree is not yet available: Confirmation from the first university that at least 80% of the work required for the current university degree programme has been completed, as well as information on the current average grade for degree programmes with entry restrictions (form on the Admissions Office website)
• the last certificate of enrollment stating the degree program and semester wherever enrollment into a more advanced semester is requested
• If you are not yet enrolled at TU Dresden, a certificate of your academic achievements from your previous university stating all courses of study including semesters
• Copy of passport (for international applicants)
• Original certificate of the Academic Evaluation Centre of the German Embassy (APS) for Chinese, Indian and Vietnamese applicants
b) Special degree-specific documents
— Application for an aptitude assessment
— Curriculum vitae in tabular form, outlining in particular your academic career to date,
— A motivation letter, outlining the reasons for the individual’s desired course of study and particular aptitude,
— Additional documents (e.g. course of studies and transcript of records), proving your special aptitude for the DSE Master's program,
— Module descriptions (or comparable content overviews) of the modules relevant for the DSE Master's program,
— Proof of sufficient proficiency in English (preferably TOEFL iBT or IELTS)
— If applicable, proof of professional training specific to the course of study, voluntary internships or similar activities related to the intended course of study.
The certificates must be submitted in the original language with a German or English translation, unless they are written in one of these languages.
