The duties and responsibilties of all personnel and students of the TU Dresden are given in the circular letter concerning this matter:

The most important instruction dealing with the protection from ionizing radiation at every licensed operation with radioactive substances and at almost all operations of X-ray or stray radiation emitting devices for the concerned personnel and students of the TU Dresden is the

• Strahlenschutzanweisung (radiation protection directive)

It regulates the radiation protection at a given place and is available at every place of operation or use of ionizing radiation. (It is prepared by the Radiation Protection Officer for his area of responsibility and put in force by the Radiation Protection Executive.)

The basic laws concerning radiation protection are (all texts in German):

• Atomgesetz (AtG)

• Strahlenschutzgesetz (StrlSchG)  and

• Strahlenschutzverordnung (StrlSchV).
