Responsibility Weeks: A smorgasbord of interactive and educational events in November
As the largest educational institution and employer in Dresden, TU Dresden (TUD) bears a particular responsibility – for its students, its staff and the people in our region. During the "Responsibility Weeks" this November, university members and visitors can experience the manifold ways in which TUD meets this responsibility. There is something for everyone: ranging from workshops and talks, readings and guided tours, to film presentations and creative courses – more than 40 free interactive and educational events on a variety of topics. It's the second time that the Directorate University Culture has joined forces and cooperates with numerous partners.
With a focus on social sustainability, this year's Diversity Days, combine the topics of diversity and sustainability. The program includes input from research that addresses this issue, such as on housing, education or artificial intelligence. Creatives will enjoy upcycling and poetry workshops. Repair cafés or tinkering in the bicycle workshop encourage more individual sustainability in our daily lives. If you want to become part of TUD's sustainability movement, you can take the first step by attending the corresponding continuing education courses.
Strengthening democratic values is another focus of the "Responsibility Weeks." A "Living Library" invites us to be more tolerant and to reflect on our own biases. In addition, an action and argumentation training course will enable its participants to handle misanthropic statements. Moreover, TUD participates in the commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the November pogroms in 1938, including with guided tours in cooperation with the Münchner Platz Dresden Memorial.
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, TUD also raises awareness of gender-based violence with exciting events. For example, you can meet author Susanne Kaiser to discuss her book "Backlash. Die neue Gewalt gegen Frauen" (Backlash. The New Violence Against Women). For the first time, there will also be a self-assertion and self-defense course for women with disabilities.
TUD is also aware of the value of all university members' good health. The University Health Management therefore regularly organizes events that promote a healthy learning and working environment. In November, the "Five Ways to Well-Being" series of events will be launched. Participants will receive impulses on physical exercise, nutrition and mental health for more well-being in everyday life.
