TUD 2020–2025: Vision and strategic goals of the Executive Board
Vision
We intend TU Dresden to become a globally-oriented and at the same time regionally-anchored, University of Excellence for the 21st century: A university that contributes innovative solutions to solving global challenges, achieves high visibility worldwide, and consistently ranks among the top German universities.
Strategic goals
Research
We aim to further develop TUD as a comprehensive technical university with a wide disciplinary spread and to reach top-level rankings nationally and internationally: Our aims is that TU Dresden stands for internationally visible, excellent research in all of its research priority areas and strives for broadly based and equitable interdisciplinarity. We will actively attract and retain the best minds globally, deepen our regional, national and international networks, establish new collaborations, and turn scientific innovation into economic success.
Teaching
We aim to transform TUD into an excellent place to study while gaining practical and research experience that can be implemented throughout life. It offers attractive, high-quality study programs that match regional, national and global demands. We seek to attract a committed and diverse student body and to provide it with high-level disciplinary and interdisciplinary competence such that TUD Alumni are open-minded, independent and critical thinkers, have a handle on the complexities of the problems of the 21st century, and will assume social responsibility.
Diversity and Inclusion
We aim to emphasize and further develop the diversity of perspectives at TUD. The diversity we aim to foster is linked with disciplinary expertise, gender identity, age group, social background, family responsibilities or a life with a disability or chronic illness. Diversity is not merely something tolerated: we intend to expand it and thereby enrich research, education and campus life.
Internationality
We strive to develop TUD into a cosmopolitan campus, strategically expand international networks in research, education, technology transfer and administration, and increase its worldwide visibility.
Impact / Third Mission (economic, social)
We aim to further increase TUD's impact and visibility in society, politics and the economy. TUD will take on its role as social stakeholder to contribute to public discourse and to improving the wellbeing of the residents of Saxony and beyond.
Digitalization
We want and need to push the digital transformation of TUD in all of its activities. To do so, the possibilities and challenges of digitalization for TUD and society need to be investigated and skills to shape digitalization in a responsible manner need to be spread throughout the TUD Campus.
TUD as a learning organization and modern employer
As a modern employer, we want to offer all employees (in teaching, research, technology and administration) attractive and facilitative working conditions to promote, develop and including their potential. To this end, we want to further develop TUD’s staff structure, work organization, management culture, as well as its local and social services. We want to develop a university culture that is characterized by transparency, appreciation, integrity, creative innovation and participation. For this purpose, we want to create a campus life with on-campus and virtual spaces and concepts that enable exchanges and activities based on democratic values and a commitment to sustainability. We strive to strengthen the willingness and ability of our university to critically self-reflect, to proactively change and to take responsibility at all levels in order to become a successfully learning organization. We want to make the information necessary to support that goal readily available. We aim to align both TUD's internal and external communication with its strategic goals.
