Role cards - self-perceptions
WHO DO I WANT TO BE?
Role cards for reflecting on your own role in political education, democratic or social work
Setting:
We have developed these role cards in order to use them ourselves in multiplier events and to talk to people about how they see themselves in educational contexts. Our aim is to make deeply rooted self-perceptions visible and to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these specific ideas. Because - believe us - all these ideas have both advantages and disadvantages for professional work. In the beginning, we only wanted to develop this material for ourselves. But after a while, more and more people asked us to work with this material in their own context. Our materials are there to be shared! We are happy when they are used. That's why we are now making the cards publicly available for download.
Craft instructions:
It is probably easiest to print out the cards in the desired size (DinA5 or DinA4), laminate them and use them again and again as reusable material. A digital implementation is also possible, e.g. via a padlet.
Didactic commentary:
From a didactic point of view, various possible uses are conceivable. The participants can be asked to choose a suitable card from the pool of illustrations and then answer the question as to why they have chosen this particular card. However, it is also possible to have cards drawn blind and then answer the question of what this card has to do with their own self-image (Does this fit or not fit? Why does it fit and why doesn't it fit? What advantages and disadvantages do you see in the role you have drawn?)
