Applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification that does not grant them direct access to university education in Germany pursuant to the qualification comparability regulations of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs must attend a Preparatory College (Studienkolleg) prior to studying. General information for the course
The second specialization in Textile Technology and Clothing covers the basics, specialist scientific focuses and specific scientific methods of the corresponding sciences in the professional field of textile technology and clothing. The course is offered in cooperation with the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences in Zwickau.
Study contents
The second specialisation in Textile Technology and Clothing covers the fundamentals, specialist areas and specific scientific methods of the corresponding sciences in the professional field of textile technology and clothing. The programme includes the fundamentals of textile raw materials, weaving technology for woven and knitted fabrics, yarn production and knitting technology, textile and leather manufacturing technology and weaving technology. Further content includes chemistry for textile and leather technology, textile finishing, technical textiles, quality testing for textiles and leather as well as the basics and specialisation of pattern design. The programme also includes vocational training and vocational didactics.
Particularities
The specialization is offered in cooperation with the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau (WHZ). The majority of the coursework and examinations take place at the WHZ in the Bachelor's degree program in Engineering Education. For this subject area, it is therefore strongly recommended that you first complete the Bachelor's degree program in Zwickau. The teacher training course in this subject area can then be continued at TU Dresden and completed with the state examination. The coursework completed in the Bachelor's degree course in Textile Technology and Clothing will be recognized for the teacher training course.
