Action plan of the month II: Use of Open Educational Resources
Universities, students, teachers and supporting stakeholders benefit from the use of Open Educational Resources (OER) in many ways: They enable free access to open educational materials, which, in addition to an effective exchange of knowledge, also promotes collaborative development and further development of teaching and learning materials. TU Dresden's sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy is dedicated to this topic in three action plans.
In order to support teachers, students and other stakeholders at TUD in the creation, use and dissemination of open and freely accessible teaching and learning materials, three documents have already been drafted as part of the strategy development :
- an information dossier: mainly addresses legal aspects of the creation, use and publication of OER,
- an OER policy: recommends concrete guidelines for dealing with OER at the TUD in addition to the Open Science Policy, and
- a didactic handout: provides practical instructions on OER in studies and teaching.
The policy is currently in the development phase. At the same time, the information dossier and the OER handout are being finalized and made available to all associate members of TU Dresden.
Stakeholders involved in teaching can freely use and individually adapt OER. This possibility of customization allows materials to be optimally tailored to the needs of students and also to be made accessible. OER can promote the continuous development of teaching and learning materials and support quality assurance. The use of OER with clear licenses creates legal certainty and protects against copyright infringements.
The sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy is dedicated to this topic in a separate chapter. The action plans can be accessed after ZIH-Login.
