Action plan of the month I: Development of a core competence set
As part of the sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy, TU Dresden has set itself the goal of establishing a binding set of interdisciplinary competencies that will shape teaching throughout the university.
Regardless of degree program or level, all TU Dresden students should acquire a selection of so-called core competencies. These competencies are based, among others, on Future Skills, Entrepreneurial Skills, 21st Century Skills, Gender and Diversity Skills and Sustainability Skills.
The sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy working groups have already identified core competencies and discussed ways of integrating them into the curriculum. The corresponding action plans of the sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy are published in a separate chapter and can be viewed after ZIH login.
The Extended University Executive Board decided to prioritize the development of the core competence set in July 2024. The Senate of the TUD supported this decision in December 2024. Active development of the set will continue in the first half of 2025. University members from all status groups will work together on a draft under the coordination of the Teaching Strategy team.
The TUD not only offers its students a sound specialist education, but also contributes significantly to the development of a broad set of core competencies. In the future, this set will be mapped transparently and represent a unique selling point for a degree at the TUD.
