Sprint 1 - The development of the sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy starts
The development of the sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy has begun jointly with three working groups and 11 to 12 members each. Across all status groups of the university, the groups will develop conceptual and strategic proposals for the further development of teaching and learning throughout the year 2023. They will be supported by impulses and inputs prepared by members from the university or partner organizations.
In this second week of January, the development of the sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy will start with inputs to the following three work assignments:
- Field of action Socially responsible teaching: The impact of teaching on society is also visible through cooperation with non-university partners. Please develop proposals on how existing collaborations with local NGOs can be expanded in the context of specific courses and how new ones can be initiated.
- Field of action Socially responsible teaching: In their courses, students at TU Dresden deal with current challenges in society as well as with current discourses in science. Ethical principles play a role here as well as the question of the responsibility of science towards society. Please develop proposals on how to ensure that these aspects are integrated into teaching.
- Field of action Digitality in teaching: Please draft an OER policy for the sustainable anchoring of Open Educational Resources (OER) at TU Dresden. Please note that this is understood as follows at the TU Dresden: The TU Dresden's OER policy is understood as guidelines that represent the university's position on OER and offer recommendations for the practice of teaching and learning in various fields of action. Its goal is to encourage actors involved in teaching to use, create and publish Open Educational Resources in order to increase the quality of teaching and learning.
TUD members developed initial approaches to these questions, which were then forwarded to one of the three working groups, where they were presented by the respective members and questions of understanding were clarified. The members of a working group can then collect their thoughts on the approach, their ideas and comments digitally in a shared working environment before discussing who can complete which further tasks/contribute perspectives by when. In weekly digital meetings and in the virtual working environment, the tasks are discussed cooperatively and worked on collaboratively. At the end of a sprint (4 weeks), the solution approach should have been expanded by the working group to include the respective subject- and status-related perspectives and a solution proposal should have been developed. This is then uploaded to the TUD public on the sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy website so that further feedback can be provided. Finally, the Teaching Strategy Board receives the proposals developed by the working groups at regular intervals.
sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy is a program initiated by the Vice-Rector Academic Affairs for the further development of content, structures and processes in the field of teaching at TU Dresden. Until 2025, innovative and creative measures and initiatives will be jointly developed and transferred into sustainable established and expanded structures in order to strengthen the cooperation in teaching and the joint responsibility for teaching at TU Dresden.
