Cycle 3 - Integration of interdisciplinary teaching-learning formats, QM for certificate courses or modular study models as well as integration of concrete questions from external parties as research and practical teaching project
sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy is a program initiated by the Vice-Rector Academic Affairs for the further development of content, structures and processes in the field of teaching at the TU Dresden. Until 2025, innovative and creative measures and initiatives will be developed together that contribute to the further development and improvement of the quality of teaching and particularly strengthen the cooperation in teaching and the joint responsibility for teaching at the TU Dresden.
The development of the sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy enters the third round or sprint. The three teaching strategy working groups, each with 11 or 12 members (across status groups), will share their perspectives and experiences on the following three work assignments within this round:
- Field of action Socially responsible teaching: Please develop proposals for interdisciplinary teaching/learning formats with a social relevance that can be integrated into the curricula of the degree programs. For this purpose, use the example of the FLiK modules, for example, whose offerings could possibly be expanded or made more attractive in this context. Please also cooperate with experts from interdisciplinarity in this area.
- Field of action Quality management of teaching: "In a process involving students, lecturers and science-supporting staff, quality objectives for teaching were formulated, which are an essential starting point for further developments and a participatory discussion about the quality of the study programs." (Teaching Mission Statement). The high understanding of quality in teaching and studies forms the basis for a holistic educational process and thus the education of reflective and socially responsible graduates who find interdisciplinary and innovative answers to new challenges. Outline options for extending evaluation to certificate courses and modular study models. Address potentials as well as limitations/difficulties.
- Field of action (Continued) development of degree programs: Do you see options for the curricular integration of concrete issues from business enterprises, cultural institutions, non-university research institutions, non-governmental organizations, etc. as research and practical teaching projects in order to supplement the academic qualification of students with experience, knowledge and skills from practice and to build up an initial orientation for the transition from study to work? Feel free to refer to examples of your teaching practice, that of colleagues, or examples from other universities in your approach. In doing so, also address how a network of practice partners can be established for this purpose, whereby you can also refer to already published proposals for solutions from the teaching strategy.
To support the working groups, TUD member develop initial approaches to the above-mentioned tasks, which are expanded at the end of each four-week cycle by the three teaching strategy working groups to include subject- and status-related perspectives and are then developed into proposed solutions. This is then uploaded to the sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy website for the TUD public to provide further feedback. Finally, the Teaching Strategy Board receives the proposals developed by the working groups at regular intervals.
