The GFF graduation scholarship has been an integral part of the support program for many years. In this series, we would like to present selected graduates of TUD who have successfully completed their degree, also thanks to the support of GFF e. V.:
Name | Debdutta Chakraborty |
---|---|
Study Programme | Organic and Molecular Electronics |
Faculty/School | Physics |
Title of the thesis | Narrowband Near Infrared Organic Photodetectors using novel organic filters |
What is/are the key question(s) of your thesis? | Producing photodetectors made of organic functional layers, operating in the near infrared spectrum, that can detect color with high precision. |
What are your plans after graduation? | To finish PhD in organic electronics. |
What field do you want to work in after you graduate? | Organic Electronics. More specifically I want to work in the field of organic solar cells. |
Why did you once decide to study at the TU Dresden? | TU Dresden provides one of the best programs in organic electronics. I am motivated to work towards reducing our footprints in energy consumption and waste production. Research in this direction will help me achieve that. TU Dresden was my choice as I could see myself getting close to accomplishing it. |
What do you particularly like about Dresden, what will you miss? | Dresden as a place provides a good balance of the amenities of a city while having splendid natural places to visit within reach. I am staying in Dresden for (hopefully) at least the next three years to do my PhD. So, I get chance to explore more of the city and its vicinity. |
What memories do you take away from your study-time? | The top of the list is studying together. I came to Dresden in October 2019. That means, we got on semester of offline classes before the pandemic hit. Those six months gave me the fondest memories of the study time. Attending lectures together, followed by going to the mensa while still discussing what we had just learnt. In the evening, going to pubs or student clubs. On the weekends, saxon Switzerland has never failed to amaze with its beautiful colors and exciting terrain. |
