Most of the buildings are still used today for their original purpose as teaching and research facilities and are therefore a living part of the university's history. The König Building and the Chemical Institutes from 1926
The buildings of the Chemical Institutes of the then Dresden University of Technology, consisting of the Fritz Foerster, Erich Müller and König buildings, were designed as a unified architectural ensemble by Martin Dülfer (1859-1942) and inaugurated in 1926.
The König-Bau was built as a laboratory for color and textile chemistry. It contained research laboratories for dye synthesis and a textile chemistry laboratory. In addition to these classrooms and laboratories, the building has a two-storey collection room, which houses the TU Dresden's highly important dye collection and is directly adjacent to the preparation room and the historic lecture hall. Together with Walter König's laboratory and the numerous interior design elements that have been preserved in their original condition, they form a unique ensemble within the German university landscape.
