Enterprise Cloud - Terms of use
The "Enterprise Cloud" service is used to create, manage and operate virtual machines (hereinafter referred to as "resources") that place high demands on availability, stability and maintenance and/or are to be accessible from outside the TU Dresden networks.
1. ENTERPRISE CLOUD USE
The use of the Enterprise Cloud Services is for the purpose of supporting teaching and research ONLY. Any further use or other use is strictly prohibited. Any operation of services offered by the ZIH (such as mail servers or file servers) requires the approval of the ZIH and the Office for Information Security.
Resources must be applied for, stating the intended purpose of use, and approved by the head of the structural unit and the responsible IT officer or the Officr for Information Security. Any use other than that specified in the application is not permitted.
Benchmarks of the systems are generally not permitted in order not to impair the operation of the overall environment. The ZIH decides on exceptions in individual cases.
Resources are regularly checked internally and externally for vulnerabilities. If serious deficiencies are found with regard to the security of the resources and these are not promptly remedied after request, these resources can be disconnected from the network or switched off if necessary.
The term for a resource is limited to two years and must be extended thereafter. The owners will be notified before this period expires. If a resource has not been extended in time, the resource is initially powered off and deleted after 28 days.
2. RESPONSIBILITIES
The applicant is considered the owner of the resource and is responsible for all activities within the resource. A resource can only be requested by a personal login of a person with employee status. Function, guest and student logins are not permitted.
At least one additional person can be named in the application as an administrator who is authorized to represent the owner in all matters relating to the resource. Personal logins as well as function and guest logins are permitted.
Responsible in the factual and legal sense is the head of the structural unit to be specified in the application.
A pre-built and pre-installed operating system is provided for operating systems supported by the ZIH. It can be configured to automatically install operating system updates. Times for necessary reboots after updates are agreed upon in the application. Resources will not be checked for currency beyond the operating system. The support services provided by ZIH as part of the PaaS offering can only be realised as long as the administrative login that has been set up for this purpose is accessible.
For operating systems not supported by ZIH and for additionally installed software, the owner or administrators are responsible for updates.
3. PERSONAL DATA IN THE SELF SERVICE PORTAL
The Self Service Portal supports staff members with tasks related to the ongoing operation of resources. In addition to the resource-related data, personal contact data of the users is also stored (login, official e-mail address). This enables communication channels for the following purposes:
- Information about the process of resources
- Contacting in case of problems or irregularities with the resources
The period for storing this data is governed by §4 (4) of the "Ordnung zur Errichtung und zum Betrieb eines Identitäts-Managementsystems an der Technischen Universität Dresden". After expiry of this period, the personal data of a user will be deleted from the systems involved.
4. RETIREMENT OF EMPLOYEES
If an owner leaves, a new owner for their resources must be notified to ZIH in a timely manner. If this is not done, ZIH reserves the right to power off the resources.
5. ABUSE
In the event of misuse of the services or violation of these terms of use, the owner will first be contacted and the virtual machine will be shut down if necessary.
