Project M: Italian Studies
Invectivity in Literary and Cinematic Representations of Migration in Italy (20th/21st centuries)
Focusing on literary and cinematic narratives of migration within the Italian narrative community, the research project analyzes aesthetic stagings of social conflicts that are carried out in an invective manner. Italy’s recent migration history since the beginning of the 20th century, with its extensive and complex flows of emigration and immigration, opens up multiple perspectives on conflicts and patterns of political identification, which narratives invest with cultural meaning. The project will examine the role that narrative engagements of invectivity play in this context.
