The following proofs of completed academic work are possible (among others):
- Statement from the Examination Office concerning completed work (incl. current grade point average)
- Examination certificates for completed exams (Vordiplom, State Examination, etc.)
A written report must be prepared by a TU Dresden lecturer (with at least a doctorate). You should try to contact a university lecturer from your subject area - with whom you may have attended several courses or at least one and who can therefore assess you.
The reports are to be sent directly from the professors to promos@tu-dresden.de.
No. Your application must be submitted in full by the application deadline. Subsequent submission of documents is only possible in emergencies.
The PROMOS scholarship is awarded in a merit-based selection process. Applications are reviewed by several assessors. The decision on who receives funding is made only on the basis of the application documents, so it is important that these are up-to-date and meet the requirements. To ensure that all applicants have an equal chance of receiving funding, the same documents are requested from everyone.
We only accept language certificates that are no more than two years old at the time of application and have been issued by an accredited institute. These include: IELTS; TOEFL; Cambridge Certificate; certificate of attendance for TU Dresden courses , DAAD language certificate; Abitur certificate.
It is important that the certificate reflects your current language skills. If you do not have any proof of courses at TU Dresden, recently completed language courses or similar, you can, for example, complete a test with DAAD. It costs EUR 35 and can be done via Skype. From experience, you can get an appointment for the test and then receive the certificate within a few days. https://tudias.de/de/sprachkurse/sprachtests-sprachzertifikate.html
In principle, PROMOS scholarships can be combined with each other, but the total funding period within a single period of study (which ends with the completion of a Bachelor's, Master's, Diplom, Magister, state examination, etc.) may not exceed 6 months. Students can also receive PROMOS funding again at the same German university during a new phase of their studies. Students are eligible for funding for language courses, specialist courses, and study trips even if they have already received funding for a total of six months within one stage of their studies (e.g., a six-month study visit + language course + study trip funding within the Bachelor's program is possible; a four-month study visit and a three-month internship within the same stage of studies is not possible).
You are permitted to apply for two different funding lines at the same time. You must submit a separate application with the relevant documents for each funding line. Applicants compete with each other in the individual funding lines, with priority given to study visits.
The period of stay can of course change slightly after submitting your application. However, we do require specific dates for the application (only indicating the month is not sufficient for calculating the funding the amount). However, it is not possible to receive funding for a longer time period than originally specified.
Yes, you must apply for a language course at an accredited language school yourself and have at least one registration or reservation for a course by the time you apply. If accepted, payment and binding enrollment would have to be submitted later.
Unfortunately, cross-year funding is not possible. Universities receive funding from DAAD per financial year (not for the academic year). The funding period is therefore from January 1 to December 31 of each year.
Success is dependent upon a number of factors, above all the quality of your application and your project. Of course, the number of applicants and the quality of your competitors' applications also play a role. It is therefore not possible to say in advance how likely it is that you will be selected.
We are aware of the problem of (pre-) investment, but unfortunately we cannot support every applicant.
- Confirmation of supervision
- Topic agreement / thesis topic
- Duration of the stay abroad
- Name of supervisor at your host institution
- Proof of enrollment is not mandatory, but it is in the interest of the student to be able to take advantage of the full range of services offered by the host institution.
Both are possible. However, the latter may be easier for you and existing partnerships will also be prioritized.
