IT Services & IT Governance
In order to drive forward the digital transformation of the university in all performance areas, TU Dresden is further developing its digital and IT governance as part of the EXU program. The focus here is on the establishment of the CDIO as a member of the Extended University Executive Board in 2020.
The CDIO develops strategies for digitalization in teaching, research and administration as well as for the responsible use of IT. It is supported in its implementation in particular by the Center for Information Services and High-Performance Computing (ZIH), the Support Center Digitalization (SCD), the IT Security Officer and the Data Protection Officer of TU Dresden.
Digitalization as a cross-sectional task can only succeed if it is not only anchored at management level, but is also backed up with decentralized structures, processes and responsibilities. A core element of digitalization at TU Dresden is therefore the establishment and expansion of a university-wide IT governance structure.
With the establishment of the CDIO Strategy Council and the IT Coordination Staff, which advise and support the CDIO in the implementation of its goals, important initial milestones have been achieved. This will be followed by the gradual establishment of the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS) and the further development of IT Service support in a targeted manner.
CDIO Strategy Council
The CDIO is supported by a strategically oriented committee, the CDIO Strategy Council, which convenes regularly. The CDIO Strategy Council consists of the divisional CDIOs, the CDIOs of the Central Academic Units, the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden (UKD) and the Saxon State and University Library (SLUB) as well as the Manager of the Support Center Digitalization (SCD), the Data Protection Officer and the Director of ZIH.
IT Coordination Team
The CDIO is supported by the IT coordination team. It addresses issues and agreements relating to the operation of the IT infrastructure and the services on which it is based and can submit proposals for resolutions to the CDIO Strategy Council in this regard. The IT Coordination Team is made up of the IT Advisors of the departments and Central Units as well as representatives of all member groups of the University. The CDIO chairs the IT coordination team and convenes it.
Center for Information Services and High-Performance Computing (ZIH)
As a scientific institution of TU Dresden, the ZIH is responsible for the university's communication infrastructure and operates the central IT infrastructure services and servers. It supports members of the TUD in their IT tasks in research and teaching and offers a wide range of training courses and information events.
