Gender Equality Commissioner and Women´s Representative at TU Dresden
The central Equal Opportunities and Women's Representative is primarily concerned with the tasks in accordance with the Saxon Higher Education Act (SächsHSG) and the Act on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men in Public Service in the Free State of Saxony (SächsGleiG).
No one-sided question: Gender equality in the university context
To make gender equality tangible for all students and employees at TU Dresden, to make gender diversity visible and to constructively open up and unlock hidden barriers - this is our constant motivation and great challenge.
Gender equality at the university is a transversal issue and the range of topics in gender equality work accordingly is diverse.
It is about anti-discrimination: all students and employees should be able to learn and work in a diversity-sensitive environment.
It is about the question of compatibility between work/study and family/care.
It is about a balanced number of representatives of all genders in leading positions.
It's about working and career conditions: we need new approaches to takle the problem of fixed-term contracts, for example.
It is about gender and diversity aspects in research and teaching: gender research is relevant for all departments. Developing this field of research deserves appropriate support.
It is about so much and so much more.
The Office of the Gender Equality Commissioner and Women's Representative coordinates gender equality work in the departments, faculties and central academic institutions. Our team supports the commitment of the decentralized Gender Equality Commissioners and contributes to more information and dialogue about equality within the university through advice, events and a wide range of activities.
