Officer for the Protection of Women’s Rights and Equal Opportunities
The central Officer for the Protection of Women's Rights and Equal Opportunities is primarily entrusted with the tasks defined by the Saxon Higher Education Act (SächsHSG) and the Act on the Equality of Women and Men in Public Service in the Free State of Saxony (SächsGleiG).
Making gender equality a reality for all students and employees at TU Dresden, making gender diversity visible, and constructively identifying and removing hidden barriers – that is what constantly motivates us to tackle this great challenge.
Not a one-sided issue: Equal Opportunities at universities
Equal opportunities in higher education is an overarching issue and accordingly the spectrum of topics in equal opportunity work is diverse.
- It’s about anti-discrimination: All students and employees should be able to learn and work in a diversity-sensitive environment.
- It’s about finding a balance between work/studies and family/taking care of yourself and others.
- It’s about equitable representation of all genders in leadership positions.
- It’s about work and career conditions: We need models that proactively take on issues such as fixed-term contracts.
- It’s about gender and diversity in research and teaching.
- But it's also about so much more.
The Office for the Protection of Women's Rights and Equal Opportunities coordinates gender equality activities in the Schools, faculties and Central Academic Units. Our team supports the commitment of all decentralized equal opportunities officers and contributes toward more information and discussion on equality at the university by consulting, holding events and conducting a variety of activities.
