The Workshop Commission represents the interests of the Combined Workshop and Experimental Services of TU Dresden. The Commission comprises the Combined Workshop and Experimental Services management team and deputies of the Central University Administration. They meet at least once a year, or more frequently as needed.
Tasks
- Representation of the various workshops’ interests
- Communication and exchange of experience with service heads and the Central University Administration
- Improvement of cooperation between the individual technical services
- Organization and hosting of the ‘Tag des Meisters’ (Master Craftsman Day)
- Organization of courses and training events
- Advising the university management on technology and service
- Support of vocational training for careers in engineering professions
- Exchange of ideas for best practice in the management of administrative tasks
- Contact for TUD employees regarding technological questions
- Organization of cooling lubricant maintenance and waste disposal transport
- Exchange platform for selling machine tools and equipment
- Promotion of environmental protection and work safety
‘Tag des Meisters’ event series
The ‘Tag des Meisters’ (Master Craftsman Day) is a training event series for the managerial staff of all workshops.
The events are geared towards unit managers or those in positions of responsibility for other employees. ‘Tag des Meisters’ focuses on professional training, questions on workplace safety and environmental protection. It also serves as a platform for mechanics, technicians and engineers to share their experiences and strengthens cooperation between the various workshop areas. Regular excursions and company visits serve to further interdisciplinary training. The Workshop Commission organizes the events, which take place each quarter.
