Association profile
The Verein zur Förderung von Studierenden der TUD Dresden University of Technology e.V. was founded in 1993 and is a non-profit organization. The association is committed to supporting students at TU Dresden. The two main pillars are the support of young students in their first semester and the promotion of early-career researchers.
The association offers student apartments for young students who have come to Dresden to study. Thanks to support from the association's funds, students can be provided with affordable living space close to the campus, which also offers an interesting academic and student atmosphere. In addition, we help young students through the difficult first semesters by organizing numerous events that take place on the premises of the Förderverein at Weißbachstraße 1. Academics and specialist committees also meet there regularly for interdisciplinary dialog.
The association has endowed the Georg Helm Prize to promote early-career researchers. The Georg Helm Prize is a science prize awarded by the TUD Dresden University of Technology. Each year, the prize is awarded to three scientific papers at the Technical University that are particularly representative of new impulses in the respective discipline.
