Association profile
The Association for the Promotion of the Students at Technische Universität Dresden (Der Verein zur Förderung von Studierenden der Technischen Universität Dresden e.V.) is a non-profit organization which was founded in 1993. The Association is committed to supporting students of TU Dresden. Their two primary focus areas are support for young first-year students and early-career researchers.
The Association provides student apartments for young students who moved to Dresden for their studies. Thanks to support from association funds, students are thus provided with affordable accommodation close to the university campus, which also offers its inhabitants an interesting academic and student environment. Moreover, we help young students through their first semester of studies, which can be a turbulent time, by organizing events that take place on the Association’s premises at Weißbachstraße 1. Academics and specialist committees also meet here regularly for interdisciplinary dialogue.
The Association founded the Georg Helm Prize to promote early-career researchers. The Georg Helm Prize is for academics and scholars which is awarded by Technische Universität Dresden to three academic theses completed at TUD which provide new impetus in their disciplines.
