DZSF - GNSS in rail traffic in the non-safety-relevant area
The research project "Applications of satellite-based positioning on rail, road and waterways in non-safety-relevant areas" is a contract research project commissioned by the German Center for Rail Transport Research (DZSF) at the Federal Railway Authority.
Project objective
The project aims to analyze current and potential applications of GNSS in the road, rail and inland waterway sectors and to evaluate the transferability to rail transport. Only non-safety-related use cases such as live tracking of trains and goods, asset management, traffic flow control and optimization, passenger information and similar are explicitly considered. Nevertheless, the special features and regulations of rail traffic will also be considered.
Project duration
06/24 - 05/25 (12 months)
