The elective area of the Master's in Business Administration begins in the first semester. The extensive range of modules and the various fields and profiles provide excellent opportunities for in-depth study and specialization.
The fields form the basic structure of the elective area, ensuring the various qualification objectives of the degree program are covered.
Profiles allow you to accentuate your study further.
Modules
The full range of elective modules can be found in the table Modules of the elective area [link follows]. There, you can also see which fields and profiles the modules belong to. Some modules are assigned to several fields and/or profiles.
The content and qualification objectives and the modules' teaching and examination forms are described in detail in the module handbook (Annex 1 to the study regulations) [link follows].
Fields
The Master's in Business Administration comprises the five fields of Business Administration, Methods and Procedures, Presenting & Discussing, Research Design and Supplementary Qualifications. There are minimum point limits for four of these fields:
- 50 credit points in Business Administration,
- 10 credit points in Methods and Procedures,
- 5 credit points in Presenting and Discussing,
- 10 credit points in Research Design.
The remaining 25 credit points of the elective area can be acquired freely across these fields or in the Supplementary Qualifications. This allows you to set a focus on the fields of your choice.

Profiles
Profiles are groups of modules that fit together thematically and complement each other. In the Master's in Business Administration, the follwoing profiles are available:
Business Administration
- Accounting and Finance,
- Learning and Human Resources Management,
- Management and Marketing,
- Operations and Logistics Management,
- Sustainability Management and Energy Economics.
Methods and Procedures
Supplementary Qualifications
- Public and International Economics,
- Business Information Systems,
- Business Education and Management Training,
- Health Management and Economics,
- Transportation Economics.
In addition, there are extensive offers in Foreign Languages.
These profiles allow you to sharpen and clarify the focus of your studies. There is no obligation to choose profiles! Instead, you decide which elective modules you take in compliance with the minimum point limits for the fields.
If you have completed a sufficient number of modules that belong to a profile, you can have them disclosed as a major or minor.
- A major requires modules of the profile amounting to at least 30 credit points.
- For a minor, modules of the profile amounting to at least 20 credit points are sufficient.
You can, therefore, acquire several majors and/or minors (or none at all), as you like.
For modules assigned to several profiles, you decide which profile it should belong to. The module then counts to the field the profile selected is part of.
