"Invective Enactments. Verbal degradations in the Roman society of the 1st century BC between literary tradition and fictitious orality"
The Research Project analyses the verbal form and the social function of invective utterances during the last decades of the Roman Republic on the basis of the Latin literature written in this period.
In doing so, it focuses on the interaction between a specific cultural context and a set of literary texts that, though belonging to different genres, nevertheless share a common feature: all of them create the impression of an actual orality along with many of its situational and performative aspects despite their written form.
