Within the framework of the study success project "Flexible Design of Study Courses" at the Media Centre of the TU Dresden, measures are being tested and analysed that create flexible study conditions for the heterogeneous student body. In preparation for this, existing regulations and provisions of the university are reviewed and revised and summarised for the target group of students, so that corresponding information is more accessible and understandable (e.g. free trial regulations, vacation semesters).
Teachers are also addressed by various measures to make their teaching more flexible by enriching it with digital media (e.g. time- and location-independent learning, individual learning paths). To this end, they are specifically supported by specially trained student e-scouts who revise their teaching in terms of media technology (e-scout project). Furthermore, a media didactic application will be designed to support the teacher in the selection of a suitable digital teaching and learning scenario.

Our aim is to assist students and staff with the compatibility of studies/job and family. For us, family does not only refer to parenting but also to the care of (grand-)parents and partners. Therefore, TU Dresden provides their students and staff with a plethora of support offers yet today. These are continuously being extended.

"Tutor programme" means that students (= tutors) help foreign students and applicants. There is at least one tutor per department. Tutors are there for both degree students (TU Dresden degrees) and non-degree or guest students (who are studying in Dresden for one or two semesters).
This tutor programme aims to support foreign students during and before their studies, most importantly at the beginning, no matter if you start in the first semester at TU Dresden, or at a more advanced level.

The Cultural Office supports students in getting to know the country, the people and in socializing. It is our goal to give a representative overview of the cultural, political, artistic, historic and especially of modern life in Germany. For us, the meeting of foreign and German students is the most important. Therefore - together with our partner organisations - we organize a broad cultural and leisure programme, for example excursions in Dresden, to its surroundings and other important German cities, but also conversational and international evenings. The Cultural Office offers support in financing and organizing intercultural events. A highlight of the university year is also organized by the Cultural Office: the International X-Mas Party of TU Dresden.

Buddyprogram of the physics student council
From our own experience we can tell that getting used to a new life in Dresden and trying to understand the ways at the TU at the same time can be challenging.
Therefore we've created the Buddyprogram. Every October, when the winter semester starts you can register in the program to join a group of 5-7 new students, 2-3 more experienced students and a professor. In this group you're free to do whatever you want to do, however it's the perfect place to tie up the loose ends.
Depending on the group, the bond can last your entire Bachelor or dissolve whenever you feel that you don't need it anymore.

Through the mentoring program of the School for International Studies (ZIS), with a pool of approximately 100 graduates of the International Relations Bachelor and Master program, more than 40 new sponsorships are being set up for current students each year. With their professional experience in the fields of law, economics and politics, the mentors play an important role as companions and support for the students. The mentors counsel the students with regard to their future academic and professional career. Because of their worldwide networks as well as their extensive international experience, they are able to hand their deep knowledge and expertise on to the students and are often willing to enter a useful and mutually beneficial professional dialogue. Furthermore, we are particularly pleased that the program is used intensively by the international students of the ZIS, not the least those from Syria.

Entering a foreign country can be challenging. To facilitate a good start for international students, AEGEE Dresden e.V. launched the Buddy Program of TU Dresden. The program functions as a bond between international and local students, where each international student will be paired with a local student according to their language interests and hobbies. Both “Buddies” can spend time together, benefit from an intercultural and language exchange and even participate in some great events the organizing team prepares each semester.

The aim and purpose of the student association 'IHD' is to encourage the student life, to create a stronger international student network and to enrich the understanding of the world and the Islam. Its major interest aims at approaching students who are currently choosing their field and discipline of study. The IHD favors to get into direct contact with students while promoting inter-religious and intercultural dialogs, reducing social tensions and battling against prejudice and misunderstandings. The IHD also promotes the social integration of Muslims – especially of students - into the democratic society of the Federal Republic of Germany. Common projects, meetings and events shall encourage the integration and gathering of people with same interests and dialogues. This will also positively affect and majorly strengthen the international and open-minded philosophy of the Technical University of Dresden. The IHD explicitly distances itself from every kind of radicalisation.

International students enrolled at the TU Dresden have the possibility of registering for German language courses. These courses are designed both to improve general language skills and to cope with the specific academic German language requirements. The complete course offer can be found on the website of the TU Sprachausbildung. Course enrollment takes place at the beginning of each semester via LSK-online.
Additionally since October 2018, the LSK is offering intensive courses to refugees so they can be prepared to study at the TU Dresden. These courses have been funded by the DAAD as part of the INTEGRA Program. On the one hand, course participants are trained for the DSH exam, on the other hand, several intercultural training courses (various formats) offer refugees the opportunity to familiarize themselves with cultural differences and characters. As this training is aimed at science students, general scientific-environment situations are part of these courses. All information refunding contents, formats requirements, and promotion is available here.
