Die Vorlesung Interplanetarer Raumflug wird in diesem Semester mit der Vorlesung Interplanetare Raumfahrtmissionen kombiniert. Im ersten Teil der Lehrveranstaltung wird Marc Millis referieren, während der zweite Teil durch Mitarbeiter der Professur für Raumfahrtsysteme gehalten wird. Marc Millis, ehemaliger Leiter des NASA Breakthrough Propulsion Physics Programms, beschreibt seine Vorlesung: „ This is an introductory overview to different approaches for interstellar flight, in particular covering the desired breakthroughs of faster-than-light (FTL) flight and non-rocket space drives. The challenges of interstellar flight are compared to spaceflight concepts based on known physics (spanning solar sails to antimatter rockets), their related in-space infrastructure, and then conveying what physics discoveries would be needed to surpass those limits. Multiple physics inquires into those goals are explained, covering the key issues and unknowns. In addition, lessons from history are used as a guide for how to conduct such visionary work in a productively credible and impartial manner.“

Im zweiten Teil der Veranstaltung werden historische interplanetare Raumfahrtmissionen und aktuelle Projekte erörtert und diskutiert. Besonderes Augenmerk wird auf die wird auf die Auslegung der Planetensonden für die unterschiedlichsten Umweltbedingungen und besondere Flugmanöver gelegt.
