Information on the transfer of credits
Students changing their course or subject who are applying for enrolment in a higher semester have to present a certificate issued by the competent examination board with regard to the credited semesters when they submit their application for enrolment at the latest. In the NC courses Medicine and Dentistry, the certificate of transferable credits must be at the Admissions Office within the period for application for admission.
The application for the transfer of credits for semesters takes place on the basis of the credited performance from the previous course. The examination boards, along with the Examination Offices, have put information on the application procedure in the faculty on the Internet for the application. Please ensure that the application takes place in good time before the start of the course which is the subject of the application. If applicable, the examination boards have even included deadlines in their information.
If the examination board does not issue any certificates or notices of its own regarding the transfer for credits for semesters which have been completed, the form: certificate of transferable credits can be used for this.
Note!
Transfer students who desire to transfer to TU Dresden within the same course/subject do not require a certificate regarding credited semesters. They will continue their studies in the next semester of their course/subject. The basis for this is the semester information on the latest enrolment certificate.
Application for the transfer of credits for performance and time in Medicine and Dentistry
In the state courses Medicine and Dentistry, the State Examination Office (LPA) of the place of birth or residence of the applicant is responsible for issuing the certificate of transferable credits. The LPA in Düsseldorf is responsible for all non-EU citizens. Note that costs from € 50.00 may generally be demanded by the competent LPA for issuing the certificate of transferable credits. The application takes place informally, unless the LPA has developed an application form for this. All the performance records which are relevant for the transfer of credits must be enclosed with the application. Please enquire about this in advance at the competent LPA! It should be noted that the examination boards generally require four to six weeks for the appraisal. As a result of this, you will receive a certificate of transferable credits regarding the credit transfer which has taken place, which must be submitted to the Admissions Office/International Office
Application during an ongoing examination procedure
Applicants who are still in the middle of an examination procedure whilst they are applying for a certificate of transferable credits should indicate this in the application. If it is emerges subsequently (after the application period) that an applicant has been assigned to the wrong semester because of examinations which had not yet been assessed, the applicant must apply for the correction of the assignment by the examination board/the State Examination Office. The corrected certificate of transferable credits must be submitted to the Admissions Office/International Office immediately.
Courses with admission restrictions
In courses or subjects with admission restrictions (NC), the admission restrictions in accordance with the Saxon Admission Numbers Regular also apply to higher semesters. Here, it is only possible for as many applicants to be enrolled in the semester applied for as places have become available due to deregistrations and withdrawals. All admission-restricted courses/subjects are indicated in the courses offered by TU Dresden (Nc).
Obstacles to enrolment
Enrolment in another course must be refused if it transpires that there are grounds for refusing enrolment in accordance with Section 18 of the Saxon Freedom in Higher Education Act. Grounds for refusal exist, in particular, if the applicant does not have a required performance record in the selected course or a course with the same orientation within the past 4 semesters, or if an examination required for the course applied for has been finally failed.
