General information for the course
Studies in Philosophy investigate four questions proposed by Kant: What can I know? What must I do? What may I hope? What is the human being? In addition to these questions, philosophy covers a wide spectrum of topics and questions, which are classified into the areas of practical philosophy, theoretical philosophy, and the history of philosophy. Practical philosophy covers questions of existence value. Theoretical philosophy researches the structure and the perception of reality. The history of philosophy investigates the development of ideas and systems of thought.
Study contents
In addition to the fundamentals of the subject, the study of Philosophy includes the methodological foundations, the basics of practical philosophy, theoretical philosophy, the history of philosophy, logic, and academic work.
Furthermore, it comprises an in-depth study of individual sub-areas of practical and theoretical philosophy, the history of philosophy as well as a broad selection of individual topics, which are linked to the acquisition of specific competencies (comprehension, critique, reasoning, developing solutions). It comprises skills in using current research literature in philosophy as well as the discussion of specialized questions in theoretical and practical philosophy.
