General information for the course
The Institute of Romance Studies at TU Dresden represents, both historically and systematically, a broad spectrum of linguistics, literature and cultural studies in French and Italian. Studying Romance Studies as well as teacher training provides students with the skills for an academic approach to analytical, hermeneutic and interdisciplinary topics, with digital methods also playing an important role. Furthermore, a large network and contact to international experts, institutions and research alliances create a sound framework for individual content, methodical and professional specialization.
Study contents
With their command of the French or Italian language as the basis, students in the sub-discipline of Romance Studies acquire an overview of the French or Italian language as well as the Francophone or Italophone cultures and literature based on academic methods during the course of their studies. In addition, they consolidate and expand their linguistic skills at a university level.
Students acquire broad, fundamental knowledge and specialize in one of the following fields:
— Linguistics
— Literature and Cultural Studies
Students learn to analyze, reflect on, explain and teach characteristics, mechanisms and structures specific to language, text, culture and society.
By the time the students submit their Bachelor’s theses, they must provide evidence of having stayed in a French or Italian-speaking country for a least five weeks.
Modules:
