Application hints and tips
If, at the time of application, proof of the first degree qualifying the applicant for a profession is not yet available, the application will be considered under the precondition that 80% of the credit points attainable for the degree have already been achieved based on completed module examinations or the final thesis and the colloquium (if applicable). A certification from the awarding institute of higher education (examination office) serves as proof of the above-mentioned academic achievements. You can find the appropriate form on the Admissions Office website.
General information for the degree programme
The aim of the Master's programme in European Languages (EuroS) is to provide academic qualifications in the field of linguistics. Depending on the chosen specialisation in structural, historical or usage-related aspects of European languages or in the field of German as a foreign and second language, students acquire the competence to systematically analyse European languages. Students will learn methods for the linguistic analysis of texts as well as skills to promote and evaluate foreign and second language learning processes. They will be enabled to understand European languages in regional, national and transnational contexts and to make comparisons between languages and language families. Students will be able to recognise case-related and theoretical spaces, transformation and transfer processes, structures and pragmatics of the European languages as well as to analyse them using scientific methods.
