Individual and team coaching
Table of contents
The Center for Continuing Education (ZfW) supports staff in leadership positions – in particular newly appointed professors as well as junior and tenure-track professors of TU Dresden – in professional matters and matters beyond their field of expertise with individual and team coaching from external trainers.
Our definition of coaching
TU Dresden understands coaching as targeted counseling and supervision in order to best unite individual skills and needs with the requirements of the working environment and the goals of TU Dresden. Balancing private and professional interests is also an important concern for us, so that you can meet your daily challenges to the best of your ability while remaining motivated, productive and healthy.
In dialog with your coach, you will develop self-reflection and an analytical, solution-oriented approach to your particular issue. Coaches help you to help yourself without encroaching on your decision-making authority.
Individual coaching provides support for:
- Undertaking new leadership tasks
- Improving staff management and communication with employees
- Managing complex change processes
- Handling conflict in a work context
- Improving self-management and time management
- Developing professional goals and visions
Team coaching can be helpful for:
- Finding joint goals and ways of working as well as an identity for newly created teams
- (Re-)Negotiating and developing roles and strategies as a team
- Identifying and specifying annual objectives and projects
How the coaching process works
The chemistry between coach and student needs to be right, which is why you have an opportunity to determine whether you would like to work together with the coach in free, non-binding preliminary meetings. The Center for Continuing Education has a pool of qualified coaches and handles the procurement of coaches in general.
Coaching is confidential and takes place in a protected environment. The coach is obliged to maintain confidentiality.
Coaching objectives and topics are chosen by you and agreed on between you and the coach when you begin. Despite the defined objectives, the coaching process remains open-ended. In coaching, you retain responsibility for decision-making and taking action at all times.
The coach will inform you about their approach and work out a realistic assessment of likely successes and outcomes of the coaching together with you.
The time and place of each session are arranged flexibly between you and your coach as suits your needs. Online coaching via TU Dresden’s video conferencing tool are possible in principle.
At the end of the coaching process, the Center for Continuing Education requests feedback on the coach and the overall process for quality assurance purposes. The content of the coaching is not subject to evaluation. All information is anonymized and handled confidentially.
Coaching consists of five sessions (90 minutes each).
The duration of team coaching will vary depending on your needs.
The person receiving coaching must contribute EUR 120 to the cost of individual coaching.
Costs depend on the type and complexity of the coaching and must be discussed with the Center for Continuing Education.
Contact, order clarification
Requirements and framework conditions for coaching are clarified in a confidential preliminary discussion either in person, by telephone or online with the Center for Continuing Education (ZfW). The ZfW will recommend coaches from their coaching pool and will take care of the administrative issues. After the coaching has been completed, further steps for support can be discussed with the ZfW. All information is anonymized and handled confidentially.
