Honorary Senate Members of TU Dresden
The distinction of Honorary Senator of the TUD Dresden University of Technology is awarded to individuals who have rendered outstanding services to the University as a whole in terms of material and non-material support. The service should have been rendered by the person to be honored in an unselfish manner and have long-term beneficial effects for the university. The following list shows the Honorary Senators of the last thirty years.

In grateful recognition of his special services to the well-being of the university, in particular for his outstanding commitment to the interests and development of the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine at Dresden University of Technology (TUD) and Dresden University Medicine, the Senate decided on 12 June 2024 to award Prof. Dr. Michael Albrecht the title of Honorary Senator of TUD. Particularly noteworthy are his initiatives in the School of Medicine, medical informatics and his efforts to strengthen medical education and cooperation between clinics, research and politics. As a visionary and promoter of medical excellence, he made a significant contribution to securing the future of medicine in Saxony. Through his work, he has significantly strengthened the national and international reputation of the TUD and the Faculty of Medicine in particular.
Prof. Dr. Hans Müller-Steinhagen

It was with great pleasure and recognition that Prof. Dr. Hans Müller-Steinhagen was awarded the title of Honorary Senator of TU Dresden on 23 June 2023 for his extraordinary services to the university. During his term of office from 2010 to 2020, the former Rector set groundbreaking milestones for the ideational and material promotion of the university as a whole. Not least thanks to his commitment, TU Dresden was the only East German university to win the German Excellence Competition in 2012 and defended this title in 2019. As a provider of ideas, motivator and networker, Müller-Steinhagen not only co-founded the DRESDEN-concept research alliance, but also advanced TU Dresden in the areas of capability for strategy development, profile building, promotion of early-career researchers, quality assurance and internationalization.
Heinz-Jürgen Preiss-Daimler

Feierliche Verleihung der Ehrensenatorwürde an Heinz-Jürgen Preiss-Daimler am 18. Januar 2018
On January 18, 2018, Heinz-Jürgen Preiss-Daimler was made an Honorary Senator of TUD in recognition of his services to science and healthcare in the university city of Dresden, in particular his constant support of Dresden University Medicine and Mechanical Engineering through scholarships for oncological research, the financing of high-performance equipment for imaging diagnostics, grants for new buildings for cancer research facilities and technological exchange in the fields of lightweight construction, plastics technology, Textile Machinery and High Perfomance Material Technology.
Henry H. Arnhold
On May 25, 2011, Henry H. Arnhold was made an Honorary Senator of the TUD in recognition of his outstanding services to the TUD as a mentor and role model for the networking of science and business and the cultivation of cultural relations across continents, decades and political systems.
Prof. Dr. Achim Mehlhorn
On February 23, 2004, Prof. Dr. Achim Mehlhorn was awarded the TUD Honorary Senatorship for his contribution to the university's considerable national and international reputation.
