​Interview with Stefanie Karg, Volley player for DSC

TU Dresden: First, thank you very much for taking part with your team mates in our photo-shoot and promotional campaign. I would still like to know why you decided to get involved?

Stefanie Karg: I think education and sport have a lot in common. Especially when I look at my life so far - I study at the same time as playing volleyball - it’s just very important for us to support each other. And with the campaign, it's not just a promotional campaign for TU Dresden, but an advertisement for the whole city.

TU Dresden: You yourself are a student at TU Dresden. Do you think the TU is capable of becoming a University of Excellence?

Stefanie Karg: Definitely. I really enjoy studying here. It's a lot of fun. The university offers a lot of opportunities and I think TU Dresden has a good chance of winning the excellence title.

TU Dresden: Are there parallels between sports competitions and the excellence competition? Are there any tips that you as a sportswoman can pass on to TUD?

Stefanie Karg: Definitely ambition, of course, and single-mindedness. You've always got to keep an eye on your goals. That's exactly how it is for us when we're competing for the title and for TU Dresden I’m sure it won’t be any different.

TU Dresden: To what extent do you think Dresdners are already well enough informed about TUD and do they support the university sufficiently?

Stefanie Karg: I think the level of importance of TUD could be raised much more and made far more public. With TU Dresden I think we have a great advertisement for education and science here in the city. And that could be fixed much, much more firmly in people's minds.
