On Friday, 19 July 2019, the decision will be made on the Excellence Universities and Consortia to be funded within the framework of the Excellence Strategy of the Federal and State Governments.

The Council of Science and Humanities has now provided information on the procedure and communication of the decision:

From 16 to 18 July, the international panel of experts will first discuss the 19 proposals and the results of the site visits, compare them and draw up a funding recommendation.
The selection decision is made on 19 July by the Excellence Commission, which brings together the members of the expert panel and the ministers responsible for science and research at the federal and state levels.

The meeting of the Excellence Commission will last until the afternoon of 19 July.
The results will then be announced at a press conference, which is expected to begin between 4 p.m. and 4.30 p.m.

The excellence universities and consortia selected for funding will be announced in a press release which will be available on the websites of the Council of Science and Humanities at www.wissenschaftsrat.de and the German Research Foundation at www.dfg.de as well as via the Science Information Service www.idw-online.de.
