University-Wide Inaugural Lecture on June 16 - Prof. S. Travis Waller
In the monthly "University-Wide Inaugural Lecture", TU Dresden publicly introduces newly appointed professors from various disciplines every third Thursday during lecture period and welcomes anyone interested.
On June 16, the traffic visionary Professor Dr. S. Travis Waller will give an insight into his research. Since 2021, he has held the Excellence Professorship "Transport System Modeling" at the Faculty of Transport Sciences "Friedrich List" and has been instrumental in developing the potential area of "Automated and Connected Mobility". His academic career has taken the renowned US-Australian top researcher to UNSW Sydney, the Australian National University and the University of Texas, Austin, among others. Awards such as the Fellowship of the Institution of Engineers Australia, the Pyke Johnson Award and the Hojjat Adeli Award for Innovation in Computing underscore Waller's commitment. In his inaugural lecture, "How We Move into the Future: The Complex Models Needed to Understand Emerging Transport," he discusses how automated mobility simulation tools support decision-making - between economics, ethical issues, health risks and environmental impacts. The lecture is given in English and will be accompanied by a reception that will provide an opportunity to interact with Prof. Waller.
A first impression of his research can be received by the #Introducing-video series of TUD:
