TU Dresden is delighted to welcome the SprInt Programme’s 500th participant
The SprInt Programme, intended for non-academic staff to improve their language and intercultural skills, has been up and running at TU Dresden for almost three years now and has proved extremely popular.
Now there is official cause to celebrate, because the SprInt team has been able to congratulate Stephan Schöps, environmental co-ordinator at the Directorate for Property Management, Technology and Security, on becoming the 500th participant.
"Some of my colleagues from the Central University Administration have been involved in the SprInt Programme for quite a while and have even been abroad already. It’s great that this programme also includes an individual English course tailored to the needs of our unit," says Schöps.
He and nine colleagues from his unit have registered for the SprInt Programme to help them become better prepared for the increasing contact with international students and researchers. Also, the Directorate is currently working on having more signs in English on the campus. "So, it can’t do any harm to refresh our English skills a little," says Schöps.
Attaining this number of participants in the SprInt Programme also constitutes a great success for the Vice-Rector for Academic and International Affairs, Prof. Hans Georg Krauthäuser. "It demonstrates that our employees are open to continually educating themselves and thus to improving the “welcoming culture” at our University. From the point of view of the Rectorate, this is something we welcome most warmly."
The SprInt Programme will also continue during the bridging phase of the Excellence Initiative, that is until at least October 2019.
