Advisory Board of the Georg-Helm-Prize
The TUD Dresden University of Technology and the Association for the Promotion of Students of the TUD Dresden University of Technology e.V. annually honor three outstanding scientific works by students of the TUD Dresden University of Technology by awarding the Georg-Helm-Prize. Each faculty and Central Academic Unit of TUD Dresden University of Technology can nominate a dissertation and a diploma thesis or comparable final thesis (Master's thesis, state examination).
The theses should have been completed and successfully defended between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023. You can find the current call for entries under Current calls for entries
The award consists of a medal, a certificate and a gold coin.
The Georg Helm Prize is awarded in memory of a mathematician and long-standing university lecturer. Born in Dresden in 1851, Georg Helm studied mathematics and physics at the Polytechnic School in Dresden and at the University of Leipzig. In 1892, he was appointed Chair of Geometry, Analytical Mechanics and Mathematical Physics at the Dresden University of Technology and taught at the Dresden university for more than 30 years. In 1910/11, Georg Helm was Rector of the Dresden University of Technology.
