Liaison Office Teacher Education: Thinking ahead together in teacher education
Our goals
Improving the supply of teachers in rural areas, increasing coherence between the different phases of teacher education, transfering research results in educational science and didactics into teaching practice: There are many challenges in teacher training and school education. Solutions can and should mainly be developed jointly, across phases and with promising prospects.
This is the interface for the Liaison Office Teacher Education. The office serves to strengthen the collaboration between universities, training institutions of the preparatory service (teacher traineeships), actors in continuing education and schools, and other non-university educational actors. Funded as part of TUD-Sylber by resources from the Federal and State Governments’ “Quality Offensive in Teacher Education”, it facilitates an exchange of experiences on a level playing field. It provides existing collaborations with a strategic framework, pools communication and initiates new collaborations and synergies. As such, the Liaison Office is your contact for matters relating to collaboration with teacher education at TU Dresden.
The activities of the Liaison Office focus on the following fields of action:
- Strengthening the educational region of Saxony:
Outside of Dresden, school education is also diverse, imaginative and successful. Nevertheless, these regions in particular suffer from a pronounced shortage of teachers. This is where the Liaison Office for Teacher Education comes in: To allow teacher training students to experience the attractiveness of rural educational areas and to utilize them for teacher education. In particular, this includes out-of-school (extra-mural) educational opportunities. - Thinking about teacher education across phases:
Individual, topic-specific collaborations between the phases of teacher education already show how quality can be further enhanced through mutual exchange of information on training content and through coordination of activities. The Liaison Office supports these processes: Existing collaborations are strengthened through strategic framing, and experiences are extended to further topics and types of schools. Platforms for the joint further development of teacher education across all phases provide, for example, topic-specific synergy meetings or working groups.
The Liaison Office is not alone in pursuing these goals. Further sub-projects in TUD-Sylber, the Coordination Office Digitization or the Orientation Platform Research and Practice (German abbreviation: OFP): This website also pools further activities at the interface between university and non-university actors.

Would you like to gain an insight into certain research projects at TU Dresden or do you have exciting research questions of your own?
Just send me an email – or call me. I would also be happy to visit you in person to discuss possible collaboration requests and requirements.
