Excellence: guiding principle of university development

The TU Dresden (TUD) is one of eleven German Universities of Excellence since June 2012. This distinction confirms the potential of Germany's largest technical university. But it is also an incentive and a guiding principle to stay and become even more "excellent".

As part of the 2nd phase (2012-2017) of the Excellence Initiative Programme launched by the German federal and state governments, the TUD was successful with its entire application package. This consists of:

1st line of funding
  GRADUATE SCHOOL

"Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering" (DIGS-BB)

2nd line of funding
CLUSTER OF EXCELLENCE

"Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden" (cfaed)

"Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden" (CRTD)

3rd line of funding
INSTITUTIONAL STRATEGY

       "The Synergetic University"

success in the 1st phase of the excellence initiative programme

As early as the first round of applications for the Excellence Initiative (2006-2011), the TU Dresden, with the Cluster of Excellence CRTD and the Graduate School DIGS-BB, was the most successful university in former East Germany. Both projects were successfully evaluated and will also be funded in the current 2nd phase of the programme.
