K-ATM - Situational Awareness Monitor (SAM)

Caused by the constantly increasing close interaction of the processes of different partners that are involved in the processing of air traffic, the performance of the overall system can only be substantially influenced by an superior system approach integrating all involved air carriers. The main focus in this process is on supplying enough system capacity, while maintaining existing safety standards and considering environmental issues. Sustainable criteria for the competitiveness of all air carriers thereby are a high service quality as well as efficient delivery of the services. A special challenge is the fulfillment of the named requirements at international airports with a hub function and accordingly high air traffic volume. The approach that is followed within the group project aims at an early recognition of a developing shortage situation and based on this an optimal as possible usage of the remaining resources by a cooperative performed planning process.
