INTACT - Integrated Airport and Cabin, Digital & Sensory Technologies
INTACT realizes transparent communication between aircraft and ground systems (gate) for a variety of applications and services. Thus, an integrated digitalization for the mentioned areas is enabled.
This is achieved through the following innovation pillars:
- Implementation of edge cloud technologies
- Hybrid data processing management distributed between cabin and ground systems.
- Use of novel wireless communication and localization technologies (e.g. LiFi).
Thus, required information can be exchanged more efficiently and processes or feedback cycles can be more closely interlocked. This is realized on the basis of an open application platform as "Cabin Edge Cloud" using AI and ML methods.
The Chair of Information Technology for Transportation Systems addresses the funding goal "Safe and Passenger-Friendly Aviation" in cooperation with the joint partners. To this end, sensory solutions for passenger and airline-oriented passenger handling concepts are being developed in the networked aircraft cabin of the future. Through information processing via high-technology approaches, linked with AI-/ML-based analysis approaches, an improvement of comfort and efficiency is targeted with the collaborative partners and a pandemic-compatible aircraft boarding is developed and validated. The resulting efficient digital value creation is a significant factor for Germany as an aviation location.
To this end, aircraft-compatible technology-supported approaches for recording the status of passengers and objects in terms of location, movement and vital behavior from raw data of passenger-compatible devices of the next technology generation (e.g., BLE5.2, UWB, 5G), as well as the cabin use of broadband LiFi-based ICT systems for high-rate data services (multimedia), precise distance determination (pandemic tracing) and for functionalities as passive lidar (seat occupancy) are being investigated. This will be investigated and validated via simulation and live testing (< 100 cabin-compatible terminals) in a fundamental and application-oriented manner.
