The Centre for Continuing Education (Zentrum für Weiterbildung, ZfW) provides special support for new appointees, junior professors, tenure track professors and other executives at TU Dresden for career-related and other issues through individual coaching with external coaches.
TU Dresden sees coaching as a targeted offer of support and advice to bring individual skills and needs in line with challenges posed in the working environment and TU Dresden’s goals in the best possible way.
By consulting the coach, self-reflection and an analytical, solution-oriented view of the respective issue are nurtured. The coach provides support for self-help without interfering with the ability to make decisions. By acquiring new perspectives, career development potential and room for manoeuvre are created, change processes are induced and supported, and the ability to make decisions and act is strengthened.
A good balance between your private and personal life is important to us because we want you to remain efficient, motivated and healthy.
Individual coaching is provided, e.g. as support,
- when taking on new management tasks,
- to improve staff management and communication with employees,
- to manage complex change processes,
- when confronting conflict in a working context,
- when you want to improve your self- and time management,
- to develop professional goals and visions or
- to understand and change challenging situations you repeatedly find yourself in.
Coach selection
Because chemistry between the coach and the participant is essential, you have the chance to discuss whether you would like to work on your topics with them in a non-binding, discussion beforehand free of charge. The Centre for Continuing Education has a pool of qualified coaches and in general takes on the distribution of the coaches.
Individual coaching process
Coaching is confidential and takes place in a safe area. The coach is obligated to respect this confidentiality.
You choose the coaching goals and topics, and they are agreed upon by you and your coach at the beginning. Despite being goal-oriented, the coaching process remains open-ended. During the coaching, you are responsible for making decisions and acting at all times.
The coach will inform you on how he or she will proceed and together you will create a realistic assessment of the results and effects expected from the coaching.
You will arrange the time and place of each session with your coach according to your needs and on a flexible basis.
For quality assurance purposes, feedback on the coach and the entire process will be collected at the end of each coaching course by the Centre for Continuing Education. The content of the coaching does not form part of the evaluation. All information is of course anonymous and treated confidentially.
Duration and costs
The coaching includes five sessions (each session lasts 90 minutes) The participant pays EUR 120 of the total fee for the coaching.
Of course, you can also arrange further sessions independently at your own expense.
Contact and applications
You can apply through the Centre for Continuing Education. The general conditions for the coaching will be discussed in a confidential meeting beforehand.
