At the TU Dresden, there is a wide-ranging commitment to implementing the equal opportunities mandate in numerous structural units. All five departments, all faculties, some central scientific institutions and also clusters of excellence have equal opportunity officers and deputies.
Equal opportunity officers are your first point of contact for concerns within your structural unit.
The advice of the Equal Opportunity Officers is confidential.
They promote, support and mediate in the following fields of action:
Gender competence
Information and awareness-raising on topics such as gender diversity and the risks of discrimination through personal counseling, continuing education programs and public relations work
Conception and implementation of projects in the own department
Allocation of gender equality funds, student regulars' table, workshops, etc.
Support for persons with care responsibilities
Demand-oriented development of appropriate measures in the context of consideration of diverse partnership and family models
Gender-sensitive organizational development
Participation in strategic concepts for the implementation of the gender equality mission, participation in committees and in personnel selection procedures / appointment procedures
Gender controlling
Reporting on the basis of current statistics
Exchange and networking
Strategy development and project work with numerous actors in the subject area, collegial case consultation

In order to support the colleagues in their task and to promote the exchange, the Gender Equality Office advises e.g. on the enforcement of appropriate working conditions (equipment/relief) and has continuously offered the following formats for several years:
STARTER KIT
The KIT is regularly updated and informs new colleagues about the following topics: Important contact points, legal basis, checklist when taking office, fields of action for equal opportunity officers, working materials, committee work and event formats. The KIT is available in the Office for Equality upon request.
Equal Opportunity Officers Working Group
The quarterly meetings of the Equal Opportunity Officers Working Group serve as a platform for personal encounters and the exchange of diverse information from the work in the various structural units. Needs and developments in the context of the joint implementation of the equality mandate are discussed. The feasibility of new ideas and projects is discussed.
Café Equality
The Café takes place every four weeks, if possible, to work out solutions to current problems with each other in the format of collegial case consultation.

PIA - Continuing education series
PIA is an in-house continuing education series for equal opportunity officers to convey theoretical and practical basic knowledge after taking office and to deepen specific issues, for which external experts are also invited.
PIA takes place in coordination with the Steering Committee for Continuing Education at the TU Dresden and is documented in the annual continuing education report of the Center for Continuing Education (ZfW).
Starting in 2023, the following topics will be part of the regular canon:
- Gender equality aspects in appointment procedures
- Standards of counseling
- Gender competence in the university context
- Q&A: The „Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz“ (in cooperation with the personnel department of the TU Dresden)
- Q&A: Data protection (in cooperation with the data protection officer of the TU Dresden).
