14th Retina Information Day on November 11 at the CRTD in Dresden
Our retina converts light into electrical signals so that the brain can transform it into images. The retina is a delicate organ, susceptible to damage from various diseases that can lead to vision loss. This is why the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) at TU Dresden organizes an annual information day focusing solely on the eye. The Retina Information Day brings together researchers, ophthalmologists, patients, and other interested individuals to exchange information about new therapies and research approaches, as well as self-help possibilities. The event is organized as a hybrid, making it possible to participate both in-person and online. Note: the event is held exclusively in German.
This year, the focus is on topics such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetes and the eye, shortsightedness, and new research models such as retinal organoids. The talks will be delivered by experts from clinics in Bonn, Leipzig, and Dresden, researchers from the CRTD, as well as a representative from the PRO RETINA e.V., a German self-help group. The speakers will also participate in a moderated discussion, which will be recorded and later published as the 'YOU ASK we explain' podcast of the Medical Faculty of TU Dresden.
On-site participants at CRTD in Dresden have the opportunity to visit multiple information booths and interact with researchers from CRTD and the Paul-Langerhans Institute Dresden (PLID). Self-help and counseling organizations will also be present to showcase their offerings and assist participants. A walkable model of an eye will offer a better understanding of the anatomy of the eye and help explain the fundamentals of various retinal diseases.
The event is aimed at German-speaking people interested in eye diseases and, thanks to its hybrid format, is accessible to everyone. In addition to the in-person event at CRTD, there is also the option to register for the online event only.
The 14th Retina Information Day will take place on November 11, 2023, at the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) at TU Dresden. The conference is organized by CRTD and the DFG Priority Program 2127 in collaboration with the PRO RETINA e.V. self-help group. Participation in this event is free of charge.
