Strategies and concepts Diversity and inclusion
Table of contents
TU Dresden is actively committed to a diverse and inclusive university community. It sets new standards by practicing diversity as a matter of course and is a role model as an educational institution and employer.
This vision is reflected in the central strategy papers and action programs . We want to create an environment in which all members of the university can take advantage of their diverse opportunities and develop their potential.
Diversity and inclusion
Diversity
TU Dresden's 2030 Diversity Strategy focuses on an overarching, inclusive approach. This takes into account the close interdependence of several core dimensions and target groups. Central to this is the appreciation of social group characteristics and identities, which are valued as a positive resource for the university.
Equality
As a basis for systematic and professionalized equality work, the Equality Concept 2018 analyses gender-specific and other inequalities and derives measures to promote equality at TU Dresden. The focus here is on academic staff.
For TU Dresden as an excellent institution for research and teaching, this 2019-2023 women's advancement plan logically describes the situation of female employees and students and specifies the measures to be taken to further approach the ideal of gender equality and family friendliness during the period of validity.
It is thus part of TU Dresden's strategy to incorporate equal opportunities into the university's core processes. The 2019-2023 plan for the advancement of women focuses on the situation of female employees in technology and administration.
Inclusion
TU Dresden was the first university in Saxony to publish its first action plan in 2017. The implementation and realization of the goals set and the measures derived from them are a long-term task for the entire university. The action plan therefore requires constant updating and review of target achievement. This approach was also implemented and further developed in the updating of the new action plan.
TU Dresden's Action Plan 2.0 for the implementation of the UN CRPD shows not only the offers in the field of inclusion based on 6 areas of activity, but also previous good practices in these areas as well as the central objectives in each area of activity.
Detailed information can be found on the action plan website.
Family friendliness
The "Family-friendly university 2022-2025" action program includes measures with the help of which we would like to further promote the culture of family friendliness at the TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD).
To this end, not only will successfully established measures be consolidated and, if necessary, further developed, but new projects will also be designed in line with requirements, because a family-friendly university needs family-friendly working and study conditions.
A particular focus of the new action program is on strengthening the role of fathers and the opportunity to take on family responsibilities on an equal footing. Overall, the new action program aims to create an even broader awareness of the topic of family friendliness and diverse family constellations at the university and to anchor it even more firmly in our management culture.
