Information about Telephone Types
Softphone client
TU Dresden is launching a pilot project to introduce Softphone as a standard workstation for employees. For personalized telephone numbers, the standard telephone will become the softphone client provided in future (after the end of the pilot phase). Physical telephones (desk phones) will only be made available again in justified exceptional cases after the end of the pilot phase for the introduction of the softphone (see the FAQ of the ticket system).

Standard Desk Telephone
The Cisco CP-7841 is currently still in use as the standard desk phone. For personalized telephone numbers, only softphones will be provided after the end of the pilot phase. Desk phones still in use will then no longer be replaced (defective, end of life).
The telephone will continue to be offered for non-personalized connections (laboratories, technical rooms, etc.) and can also be wall-mounted.
Team-Assistance - Telephone
The Cisco CP-8851 phone for team assistance applications will also be replaced by the softphone client at the end of the pilot phase. Phones that are still in use will no longer be replaced in the event of a defect or end-of-life status.
Conference Telephone
The Cisco CP-8832 or CP-7832 is offered as an audio conference phone for consultation rooms. It has special hands-free functions and can be equipped with additional microphones remote from the main unit if required.

General Information
The department of networking and communication services is the property managing office for the official use of mobile connections at TU Dresden.
The procedure of the acquisition and the execution of mobile phone contracts is regulated by the newsletter RS D4/1/08.
All requirements of new contracts, contract prolongations, contract changes or contract terminations have to be negotiated with the ZIH.
The acquisition of mobile telephony hardware, which is not linked to contracts, can be done by the user themselves.
Basically, the TU Dresden uses frame contracts with the Vodafone D2 GmbH. Contracts have a minimum duration of 24 month, and will be prolonged for 12 month, whether they are not terminated in time (3 months before).
Contracts/End Devices/Application
See the actual terms on the FAQ-Sites of our ticket system FAQ of the ticket system .
Reposting
For the operating costs, the user gets the opportunity to log in a Vodafone-Billing-Portal. Incoming hardware costs which occur in connection with new contracts or contract prolongations have to be passed for payment in the budget by the user himself. Therefor the user receives an original bill together with the hardware.
