Eduroam changeover (certificate exchange)
For secure login to the "eduroam" WLAN, devices use certificates to check whether they send the access data (login and password) to a trusted server before establishing a connection. Specifically, the system checks whether the certificate offered by the WLAN access point and the certificate stored on the device match.
With the current change of certificate provider at TU Dresden, the certificate stored on the devices has to be replaced. The new one has been active since the beginning of August this year.
For all devices on which "eduroam" was set up before August 2023, a reconfiguration is now necessary: All affected users must take action and renew the eduroam configuration on their devices using the CAT configuration wizard (cat.eduroam.org), provided by the Europe-wide eduroam community.
Without renewing the configuration, WLAN access via eduroam will no longer be possible after November 30, 2023.
Notes:
- It may be that the existing eduroam WLAN network must first be removed on the affected devices. To do this, you can follow the instructions for the respective device.
- An active internet connection is required to load the CAT configuration file.
