General information about the degree program
How are electricity and heat generated from wind and solar energy? And which storage technologies are required for an era of renewable energy? – Learn this and much more in the Renewable Energy Systems Diplom degree program.
We urgently need to stop using fossil fuels and switch to renewable and climate-friendly energy sources. However, this makes our energy supply a lot more complex. The trend toward local, decentralized, and globally interconnected energy systems also presents unique engineering challenges. To overcome these challenges, we need engineers who can develop, design, analyze, evaluate and optimize these complex energy systems. In the Renewable Energy Systems program, we train you to become the specialists we so desperately need for the future.
The Diplom degree program is supported by the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering. It’s an interdisciplinary program that combines the teaching content from the two Faculties.
Upon completion of the degree program, you will be awarded a Diplom certificate. We deliberately decided to retain the Diplom-Ingenieur (Dipl.-Ing.) degree title, as Diplom-Ingenieur have a very good reputation and excellent career prospects worldwide.
